New Favorite Fall Lipstick

Hey There Dolls,

I've never been a huge lipstick person in the past.  I usually keep lipstick for special occasions or days where I need a little pick me up.  Since I started blogging however I've decided lipstick needs to be more of a staple in my routine and began the hunt for the perfect fall lipstick to kick up my collection.

This beauty is that perfect fall lipstick for me.

The Revlon Super Lustrious Lipstick in Black Cherry is by far my favorite purple plum shade.  It's dark enough to be great for fall, but light enough not to make me feel like a wanna be goth kid.  It really adds a bit of glamour to an outfit, and paired with a light smoky eye it can be worn day or night.

It glides across your lips without tugging, and while I would recommend putting on a balm underneath to fill in the creases, this formula is in no way drying.  It gave me a good four or five hour wear before I wanted a touch up, which I don't mind.  The color payoff is also very rich.  I only used two swipes to get the perfect coverage, but it can be worn heavier or lighter depending on your mood.

If you want a great fall/winter shade to add to your collection I definitely recommend picking up this shade and many more  from the Revlon line.  At less than $6 a pop this is not only a wonderful brand, but affordable too.

Happy Halloween Everyone!

Flat Iron Curls

Hey There Lovelies,

Today I decided to try something new with my hair, and for the first time in months I whipped out my flat iron and decided to attempt flat iron curls.

Forgive my worried face, I just couldn't get a good look at the curls from straight on.

To mu surprise it didn't take too long to get a head full of wavy curls.  I use the Remington 1" Ceramic Flat Iron.  It heats up to a terrifying 410 degrees in less than a minute, and only cost me $20 from Target.  After I heated up the straightener, I parted my hair into three bands, took small sections, put the straightener at my roots, twisted until the back of the straightener was visible in the front, and pulled down. I repeated this all over my head.  After I had a full head of curls I  tossed in some Philip B hairspray and I was all set to go.  (If you look up how to curl your hair with a flat iron on YouTube there are a million tutorials.)  I highly recommend if you are going to do anything to your hair you wait for day after hair, as it usually holds a curl or style much easier than clean hair.  If you are one of those people that must was their hair everyday you can get away with drying your hair and throwing a dry shampoo or texturizing spray in your hair, something to give your tools an added edge.

What are your favorite Autumn hair styles?

Happy Tuesday Guys!

The Procrastinating Beauty Blogger Tag

Hey There Lovelies,

I found this cute idea for a post when I was browsing around's blog and decided to give it a shot.  I really like doing things like this as I think it gives you guys a different look into what I'm all about and who I am.  So without further ado, here is The Procrastinating Beauty Blogger Tag:

The Procrastinating Beauty Blogger Tag

1. Name a beauty regime that you rarely do?
I honestly never blow dry my hair and I rarely get it cut (you and my split ends can cringe from that one).  I think blow drying my hair is pointless.  I never need it to be dry for an event in five minutes, and I don’t do much in the way of styling so I don’t worry about hot tools hurting my wet hair.  I am very minimal with my hair upkeep, and am much more of a wash, apply product, and go kind of person.  Along with never blow drying and rarely using hot tools on my hair, I rarely get it cut.  Every few months I notice that my hair is splitting at the bottom and I go and get a trim.  Since I don’t really use hot tools often the damage from my hair is from pinning it up and coloring it.

2. Is washing your make-up brushes something that you do regularly?
Sadly no.  I use my fingers more than I use brushes, so the only brushes I wash on a semi-consistent basis are my eyeshadow brush, my crease brush, my powder brush, and my brow brush.  Especially since I haven’t consistently been wearing makeup those brushes get washed maybe once a month (after only about 5 times use).  With regular use however they get washed every other week, or more often if I can sense my skin getting too oily or dry.

3. How long will you last with chipped nail polish?
Days.  Just kidding, probably two days.  When I was a teenager I loved the look of my chipped black polish, I thought it added to my “edge”, but the older I got and the more my polish collection grew I decided to just retire the polish on my fingers and pick a new color for the week.  Having brittle nails means my polish chips more often than I would like, and usually ends up with me snagging my nails on things and causing more damage, so after two days I take it off and hit up Pinterest for the next look.

4. How long will you put off buying/replacing a beauty product, even if you need it?
Back ups people, always have back ups.  I don’t ever wait for a product to be completely finished before I buy a new one.  I get anxious about what I will do if I run out of my mascara or a face cleanser so I usually always have two or three back ups in my drawers just in case.  The only thing I have ever run out of before I bought a new one was hairspray, and that was once when I was a teenager and used to back comb the heck out of my hair, which led to an immediate rush to the nearest Walmart for a huge can of hairspray and a vow to never run out of anything again.

5. What is your worst beauty habit?
Using too much foundation.  I always think more is better, but in reality I just look clownish and it ends up sliding down my face in the Virginia heat.  I used to cake on the palest shade I could find when I lived in NY, and summer or winter I always looked like a little ghost with a powdery face that would get on my black shirts, and anyone I hugged.  After I moved down to VA I realized that less is better and opted for a smaller amount of product on my face, but some days I can still be caught with just too much foundation if I’m having a bad skin day.

6. Name something non-beauty related that you put off doing all the time?
Decorating our apartment.  We have been here a year and our walls are still white and we have minimal decorations up on the walls.  I don’t know if it’s lack of inspiration, or fear it won’t look nice if I put up the stash of decorations I have hidden around the apartment, but it still hasn’t gotten done.  With winter approaching fast I know it needs to get done before it’s too cold to paint, and I finally have the colors and some idea of how it will look, so ::fingers crossed:: it will happen in the next few weeks.

7. When going out somewhere, do you leave getting ready to the last minute?
Yes.  Well, half hour before we have to be out the door.  It never takes me long to get ready, even for weddings or going out to the bar, so I feel like giving myself two hours will just end up with me playing around in my makeup stash, and trying out some crazy hair idea I found on Pinterest.  Less time to get ready the better in my book, unless you have your girlfriends with you and then by all means pop a bottle of champagne and take four hours to get ready.  No shame there.

8. Can you commit to spending bans?
Spending bans are like diets, I hate them, think they are naughty words, and don’t ever pretend I would commit to one.  I do believe in saving money for rent and car payments and things you NEED to pay for, and I also believe out of every paycheck you should do something nice for yourself.  That can mean getting a coffee before a stressful day at work, renting a movie out of a Redbox (only a dollar!), or even splurging on a new compact you saw in the store.  If you withhold things from yourself you are a lot more likely to go overboard (like spending $80 at the bar, or buying everything that has polka dots on it from Forever 21) than you are if you treat yourself to something small but nice every week.  I’m not saying dig yourself into a hole here, but you work hard for your money, don’t be ashamed of buying a coffee or a bottle of wine sometimes.

9. How organized is your make-up and nail polish collections?
Makeup, kinda.  I have a little organizer with all my samples in it, and all of my lip colors in a box, as well as all my compacts in a little box.  That’s organized well enough for now that I can find everything I’m looking for.  Nail polish… does having it all in a pile in a cute basket all in one place count as organized?  Probably not.  I do hope to one day find a wall organizer to put next to my desk is I can show off all the pretty colors I have hiding in the bottom of the basket, but until then I have nothing  to organize them with, and like a little mystery in my life, so I’m okay with my system.

There you have it!  All my bad beauty habits and my thoughts on them.  I think everyone should take their turn at this post.  It was fun and really opened my eyes up to some of the things I need to work on (ahem, cleaning my brushes).  I hope you all enjoyed it!

Happy Monday Everyone

Nail Lust

Hey There Dolls,

I am a huge fan of sparkles.  Anything sparkly and it's like Pavlov and his bell, I start to drool.  Not always figuratively.  So when you mix big chunky glitter and nail polish and I want it. All of it. Without shame.

Recently, a new trend in nail polish is this spotted glitter polish that makes your nails look like robins eggs.  I immediately started lusting after this polish and could not for the life of me find it anywhere.  Low and behold it was tucked away in the almost empty shelves of WalMart and I snatched up a bottle and grinned from ear to ear.

I chose the shade Drops Of Jade from the Maybelline Color Show Polka Dot collection.  I adore this color and have a similar one in an NYC polish without the glitter.  (I would really like to get my hands on the clear color with the glitter in it, which I will find, I'm determined.)  It only took two coats to get the amount of glitter I was looking for on my nails, and the color is not completely opaque, so your real nails do show through the polish.  I did notice chipping after about two days, but my nails are extremely damaged on the tips so I can't imagine it would be a huge concern for people with harder nails.  The glitter blends right into the polish so you're not left with rough nails like other glitter polishes can leave you with, meaning no snagging in your hair or on your clothes, and no crazy one sheet peel off if you snag a corner on anything.

Overall I really love this polish and just seeing it on my nails makes me one happy camper.  At about $3 a bottle the results just can't be beat in my eyes.  I highly recommend nail polish enthusiasts go out and grab themselves a bottle.

Happy Saturday Everyone!

Its Craft Time!

Hey There Dolls,

Lately I have been in a life rut, and an artistic rut, so I decided to hop on my Pinterest and browse around for something to occupy my time and get my creative juices flowing.  I landed on multiple pins with painted jars, and remembered the glassware I picked up from the dollar store almost a year ago and never used.  So I gathered up my glassware, my Pantone paint set, and my Rustoleum metallic gold spray paint and set to work.

I chose the blue/green and gold to match the decor we already have in the living room of our apartment. First I wiped out the glass so that there was nothing inside the glassware to mess up the painting process.  I poured the paint into the bottom of the glass and ran my brush up the sides of the jar until it was completely covered.
Now, here is a little lesson I learned from this experience, do NOT do this while it is about 30 degrees outside.  Nothing will stick to your glass and you will end up running around your apartment looking for a hairdryer to warm up your jars and dry your paint.  I would also strongly recommend doing any project with spray paint outside so that things don't smell like spray paint for hours.
Next I took some cardboard and put it under my glassware so that I could spray paint it.  Just a quick coating on the inside, followed by a shot of warm air from the blow dryer, and repeat, until the inside is covered to your satisfaction.
As for clean up, it's simple.  Take some rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab or towel and gently wipe the outside of the glass in small circular motions until the spray paint is gone.  The same method can be applied to your fingers if you happened to get some of the spray paint on there as well.

In all this took me about an hour to complete, with the paint drying the slowest, and voila! Pretty accent pieces you can put candles in, or just place around the area you want to decorate to brighten it up.  Any color paint will do, and any spray paint will work.  Just be creative and have some fun!

Happy Crafting!

Changing It Up

Hey There Dolls,

I've been trying to spruce up the blog to make it a little more manageable, and so far I have added a search bar, tabs at the top, and social media buttons!  It's a big step for me in trying to grow my blog into something special.

I got the buttons from a really cute site called Shrimp Salad Circus.  I jumped at these when I first saw them because they fit so perfectly with the blog layout I have right now.

Look for more updates later on in the week.

Ipsy Beauty Bag October 2013

Hey There Dolls,

I actually received this subscription about a week ago, and haven't gotten around to posting about it.  It's the Ipsy Beauty Bag for October 2013.  It costs $10 a month for a subscription.  Each month you get 4 or 5 sample size beauty products to try out from different brands.

This month was all about the basics.  Everything in the bag was something you could use everyday, and most of them are things that are really nice for your handbag.  Even though the products are all something I would use, this month's bag just didn't make me jump for joy like other months.

The bag itself is simple and pretty, and I'm a sucker for inspiring quotes.

The La Fresh Oil-Free Face Cleanser Wipes are the perfect size to fit right in your handbag, and for late nights or just to freshen up they are perfect.  The smell reminds me of grapefruit, something I actually like a lot.

The Zoya Nail Polish is in the shade Giovanna and I absolutely love it.  For me this is something I would consider a winter color, as it is blues and greens, and for me royal colors mean winter and snow and layers of clothing.  I have one other Zoya polish which I liked, but this one doesn't have sparkles in it so I feel like the wear will be a lot nicer.

The Buxom Lip Gloss is in the shade Dolly.  It smells strongly of vanilla, and is quite sticky.  It also has these little golden sparkles throughout it, and is a much lighter pink-mauve than in the photo above.  For me this is not a winner.  I'm not a fan of lip gloss, and especially the very sticky formulas.

The Nourish Organic hand lotion in Coconut & Argan is actually quite nice.  The smell is wonderful and it sinks into the skin in minutes.  I am always looking for a small thing of lotion to pop into my handbag for the winter, and this ticks all the boxes.  Smells nice, sinks in quickly, no greasy hands after application. Winner!

The big Sexy Hair Blow Dry Volumizing Gel is not something I would buy for myself, as I very rarely blow dry my hair.  It smells like rubbing alcohol mixed with... that traditional gel smell.  (I have no idea how to describe it.  If you grew up around a boy in the 90's though, you know the smell.)  I may try using this without blow drying my hair as a more traditional gel type product, but more than likely this will be given to my sister in law the next time I see her.

All in all very good products to keep in your handbag, but nothing I was falling over myself to try out.

Happy Tuesday!

Hey There Dolls,

Today is a chilly October day in Virginia, and I needed some cheering up.  So what else is a girl to do but apply a nail polish in a cheerful shade with a very cute name.  Kerfluffle.

I received the shade Kerfluffle from a beauty box subscription, and I was overjoyed to see one of my favorite pinks in a new brand I've never tried before.  Much like the shade The Old Bill, the shade Kerfluffle only needed two coats to become completely opaque.  The less layers the better in my book.  This formula does not streak on my nails (something lighter colors tend to do), and it dries quickly meaning no sheet marks or stray cloth fibers stuck in the "almost" dry polish.

While many people would say "Keep that polish until the Spring, it's Autumn now! Time for the berry's!" I disagree.  I think this is a classic pastel pink color that can be worn any time of the year.   Pair this with a black shirt, some classic jewelry, and some skinny jeans, and you are all set to drink your Starbucks and enjoy this beautiful weather.

Happy Friday Everyone!

A Make Up Post From Monday

Hey There Dolls,

I didn't post Monday or Tuesday, because I was busy being internet lazy and instead opted to do housework that was long overdue (cough cough laundry).

Here is the post I was going to write Monday, but you can think about it as a second Wednesday post if you'd like too!

I subscribe to beauty boxes.  They are built into my monthly budget, and they make me spend a heckova lot less on beauty products than I used to.  I get to try new things I never would have picked up myself, and see if they really are worth the hype.  I also find new and exciting brands, and makeup and skincare things I never knew existed!

This post is dedicated to Birchbox.  Birchbox costs $10 a month, and you get 4-5 skincare and beauty items every month to try out.

I thought this month's box was interesting.  All things I would not buy for myself, but things I am pleased to see in the box.  There were two extras in the box this month, which were the baggie (cute), and the chapstick.  I am not a huge fan of the Chap Stick as it leaves my lips really slippery and doesn't hydrate as well as my go to Chap Stick, but it does smell like vanilla which is pleasant.

The Avene Extremely Gentle Cleanser Lotion is a new concept to me.  I'm very much a "Slather cleanser on your face, followed by water to make bubbles, followed by a washcloth to get all the makeup and bubbles off my face" kinda girl.  I like things that foam for my face so I can see if I have any of it left to take off.  I have yet to try it, but I am intrigued.

The DDF Serum is meant to minimize pores and soften fine lines.  I have rather large pores on my cheek/nose area and have yet to find anything to make them get any smaller. The fine line thing is something that seems more probable to me.  I'm excited to try this out after my other little serum sample is gone, mainly because it looks like the vial from Resident Evil, except its orange, and that seems really cool for Halloween time.

Having Miss Jessie's Original Conditioner show up in this box makes me very happy.  I always see these products in Target, but refuse to get suckered into the packaging and blow all my money on one bottle of curl gel, or shampoo.  Since I have been using WEN I try and keep my haircare routine pretty minimal, and even more so since I just re-dyed my hair red.  I've given up conditioning after using the WEN for about two weeks now and I am really happy with the state my hair has been in (not getting greasy looking too quickly and whatnot) so  I'm almost tempted to have the boy, and his beautiful hair, try this out for me.

I have heard about theBalm Cosmetics from other bloggers, and was excited and disappointed to see this stain in the box this month.  Excited because I have never tried the brand, disappointed because I do not use stains.  Or, I have not used stains.  Maybe this product will change my mind on them, but as of right now they are messy, I always get them everywhere, and I haven't the slightest idea how to properly apply them without looking like I've been out in a snowstorm or drank too much kool-aid.

For me this month's box brought a lot of new/interesting products which I am very excited to try over the next few weeks.  Look for some of them popping up in later posts!

Today Is The Day

Hey There Dolls,

I've decided that Wednesdays should be Motivational Wednesdays.  You've already gotten through Monday and Tuesday, and Wednesday is, in my experience, the day everyone starts to get a little antsy for the weekend, and sluggish in their workplace/life.

Recently I've been going through some personal hardships, and no matter what I keep telling myself, the funk still remains.  I still sleep until noon, I drink far too much wine, and even though I know I have to pick myself up and get my life back together, I always say, well I always have tomorrow to start getting better.

Today is the day.  We sit in our lives and watch it fly by without ever really making an impact in the world around us, or even in our own lives.  I hear many people saying, "If it's meant to be, it will just happen.".  That is a phrase I always used when I just didn't want to try hard enough to get where I wanted to go, and used it as an excuse to blame whoever and whatever if the things I wanted out of life never happened.  Life is not fair, it is not always beautiful and happy, and it is most certainly not always easy, but it is worth living to the best of your ability.  Just doing one thing off of the list above can change your day in a way you never thought possible.  Be proactive with your present.  Stop preparing for a future you cannot control, and letting a past you cannot change hold you in your current position.

I guess the meaning of today's post is this.  Today is the tomorrow I promised myself yesterday, and today is the day. Make your present the best it can be, and shed off the worry and uncertainty you leave yourself obsessing about morning, noon, and night.  We are only promised one life, and the moment we are currently in.  No matter how hard yesterday was, or how hard tomorrow will seem, take your life one moment at a time and life seems a lot brighter for it.

Make Today The Day.

Sunday Feels Like Monday

Hello Dolls,

How do you like that greeting?  I'm thinking about changing it up from Hello Everyone, to something a little.... more me.  I greet my female friends by saying Hey there Lady Jane, or Whatcha doing Lovely, and my male friends with How are you today Sir, or hello Sir.  Greeting the readers on my blog in a dull way isn't reflective of how I greet people in my everyday life, so that is going to change.  It may take a few days to figure out something indicative of myself, and something I feel comfortable greeting all of you with.

Today is Sunday, which means I accomplished my goal of posting every day this week.  It was really helpful blogging everyday, no matter if I felt like it, had a good idea, or not.  One thing I did realize though is planning out my posts is something I could really benefit from.  Having a clear idea of what I want to show you guys not only benefits the blog, but it also gives you guys some thought out, well put together posts.

Here's to a great week, and another great one coming up.

Happy Sunday!

butter LONDON

Hello Everyone,

Last night I switched out my dark red polish for a new brand I have never had the pleasure of trying before.  I received the butter LONDON polish in The Old Bill in my October Sample Society Beauty Box, and decided this was the next shade that I would put on my nails.

Forgive the state of my nails.  They are still growing out from the acrylics I had about a month ago.  Oh and flannel is totally making a comeback in my closet, thank you fall!

I absolutely adore this polish.  The color, how easy it is to apply, the packaging, everything.  First off, the packaging is pretty unique to my polish collection.  It's square, and you take the top portion off the bottle, and then unscrew the brush that is underneath to apply the polish.  The application process for this color is pretty flawless.  I only had to apply two coats to get a fully opaque color, and it went on my nails very nicely.  It took a few minutes to dry, which for me is kind of a hassle because I always smack my hands on things and dent my nails, but that can be remedied with a quick drying top coat or some quick dry nail drops.  Unlike most other polishes, when it dried on the top, it was dry all the way through, so no sheet marks from the bed!  The color is a rosey-gold color.  It is probably meant to be gold, but the boy and I agree it definitely has a copper tint to it.  At $15 a bottle it is not something I would buy for myself, as I change up my polish rather frequently, so chipping is not a huge concern of mine, and I can probably find a similar color in a less expensive polish.

Overall I love this product, as it can be worn in warmer and colder months, and is something I didn't have in my collection before.  The only downside is the price, but if you are looking for a really good polish, in an amazing year round metallic color, and price is no issue, I say hop on the bandwagon and snatch up a bottle for yourself.

A Little Organization

Hello Everyone,

Today we decided to overhaul the apartment, so I decided my desk needed a little overhaul too.  Usually my samples, makeup, and skincare products are in a jumble on my desk and I rummage through them looking for what I want to use that day.
Not a good system.
This led to me looking around my room trying to find some way to get my things organized, and my eyes fell on a jewelry organizer on a hanger.  With 84 little pockets to put goodies into, I took my whole stash, dumped it out, and started putting things away.  This is what it looks like:

This way I can see all of the samples and products I have acquired and hopefully this means I can actually do an empties post for you all.  Someday I plan on buying cute little desk organizers so I can keep everything in plain view on my desk, but for now I'm pleased with how it looks.  Now I'm off to drink a few beers, play MTG with the boy, and watch the new episode of Haven! (That may or may not have been the nerdiest sentence ever displayed on this blog).

Happy Friday!

Everybody Loves A Good Deal

Hello Everyone,

Today is the day where I post all of the coupons for internet goodies and specials.  This week is pretty varied, between makeup and clothing, but all are deals I think everyone will enjoy.

Lets start out with everyone's favorite beauty store Sephora.  Today they have launched their new Formula X nail polish range and this promotion runs from 10/10 - 10/31.  Just call ahead to make sure your local store is participating in the promotion, and learn tips and tricks to get the perfect manicure, as well as try out some pretty awesome looking shades from the Formula X brand.

Next we have a personal favorite of mine (especially for mini's) Ulta.  Ulta is running a 30% off real techniques brushes with the promo code 2ET5Z5FMHDR which is a really good deal. This deal is valid online with the code, or in store with a printable coupon. That drops an introductory set from $17.99 down to $12.60.

Here's something you don't hear me talking about a lot, jewelry.  Blue Nile is a jewelry website that I subscribed to when I was OBSESSED with pretty baubles.  The have jewelry running $50-$250 off.

One of my favorite cheap-ish but still extremely cute clothing stores is Old Navy.  Old Navy has a 20% off sale online with the code STUFFSAVE.  Sadly it ends today, but that doesn't mean you can't sign up for future offers on great deals!

When I was still working at the Depot I bought a whole bunch of collared shirts from Aeropostale.  Even though I don't have a need for collared shirts, they have always had extremely cute winter apparel.  With the snow about to fly in just a few short months, they have a new sale up and running.  $10 off $50 or more, or $25 off $100 or more with the coupon code OCT25 at checkout.

Remember everyone, Christmas will be here sooner than you think, so take advantage of the promotions put on by your favorite retailers, especially around Black Friday time.  But like I always said, there is no time like the present to spoil people with presents.

Happy Shopping!

Blush Mystery Beauty Box : October

Hello Everyone,

Yesterday I caught the Fed Ex guy and got my package on time and was pleasantly surprised at what I found inside.  I subscribe to the Blush Mystery Beauty Box which is $24.95 with a monthly subscription, and $34.95 for a one time purchase.  Every month you get a little box in the mail with a bag inside, a whole bunch of goodies totaling over $130, and two little samples floating around the outside of the bag inside the box.

Here's what Octobers box has graced me with:

(I made the pictures big for you guys to really see what's in there.)

The Dremu Oil Serum and Specific Beauty Night Treatment Complex samples were the fun freebies floating around the inside of the box.  The bag this month was also of better quality than previous months, something I always love seeing.

-The Butter LONDON nail polish in Kerfluffle is my absolute favorite shade of springtime pink, and my second bottle of Butter LONDON polish.  Even though it's fall I can see myself putting this into some kind of nail art, or even wearing this to a job interview.

-The Karin Herzog Vita-A-Kombi 1 is the little black sample.  I love myself a good moisturizer so I can only hope that this one works out for me.

-The Mirabella Mineral Highlighting Powder will be my first powder highlighter.  It comes off on the fingers with larger sparkles than I hope for with a highlighter, but it's a very pretty champagne peachy color that I can't wait to try out.

-The MyFace Cosmetics Lip Pop Gloss is not something I usually wear.  It smells strongly of vanilla, and glosses and I don't really get along.  They are always sticky, and my hair always gets stuck to them even when it's not windy.  It's transparent with sparkles all in it so this will probably be something I gift to a friend.

- The Theraplex FT Exfoliating Emollient is made to go on dry and rough hands and feet.  Seeing as my feet are something I constantly neglect, I'm looking forward to seeing what this can really do.  (I'm sure the boy will like this too)

- The Talika Lipocils Expert is something that makes me a little uneasy.  I love mascara, and lengthening mascaras with proteins and nourishing properties, but with anything promising to give me full lush lashes without side effects makes me weary.  I don't want anything to change my eye color (which I love), or hurt my eyes (I already wear contacts).  I'll definitely read up more on this before I try it out.

- The Miracle Skin Transformer for your face in the shade medium.  Being a fair skinned lass I don't think medium and me will get along well.  Even in the summer months I go maybe a shade darker in foundation, if I'm lucky to get that much sun.  I have their body transformer which gives you a mice sun kissed glow, but this seems like something better suited for those without my Irish freckled skin.

-The Chella Highlighter in Ivory Lace is something I received in an Ipsy bag but immediately lost, so to see it pop up again in another bag really got me excited.  I love the idea of a highlighter pencil, but it looks like it would be better suited for the eyes than the face.  No matter how it's applied though, I'm glad I get another shot to figure it out.

All in all I love most of the products I received.  The few I feel I won't get along with are still good products in my opinion, just not for me.

Keep a look out for the other boxes I subscribe to later on this month.

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Sample Society Beauty Box by Allure

Hello Everyone,

As the UPS people are too lazy to deliver my packages to my apartment (which is NOT that hard to find because I order things online often and all of the doors and buildings have numbers on them), I had to wait all weekend to open my Sample Society Beauty Box by Allure. If you can't tell, I am not a fan of the UPS people down here.  Not even a note on the apartment door?? I had to stalk them VIA the interwebs and found out someone signed for my package and hoped it was at the main office (it was).
 *End small UPS rant.*

So here I am, Tuesday afternoon, snapping pictures and posting so all of you lovelies can realize how amazing these boxes are and that you should invest in them yourselves.  The Sample Society box ships every month, within the first week of the month, and costs $15.90 if you sign up for the yearly subscription.  You get five deluxe sized samples by famous brands, a $15 voucher to use on any $50 purchase, and a little how to magazine that shows you this months tips and trends by Allure.

Without further ado, here are the goodies I got this month:

I made the pictures really big so you guys could see what everything was all about.

I'm really excited because I think I will use everything I got in this month's box.

-The BB cream has a fuller coverage than most of the ones I have tried so don't be surprised if you hear me lovin on it in a few posts.

-The skin serum isn't something I would normally buy being so young, but I do want to try more serums, and I am not always the nicest to my body, so I hope this will help.

-The moisturizer smells heavenly.  I may even be able to convince my boyfriend to keep this in his truck in the winter so his hands don't get chapped like last year.

-The nail polish is the first Butter LONDON polish I own, so I'm also pretty pumped about that. Pair that with the fact that it's a color I adore, you can't beat it.

-I am always on the hunt for new facial moisturizers, and this is a brand I have heard a lot about but never got the nerve to spend the cash on it to buy anything. Another thing I was pumped to see land in this month's box.

Guest Post: Tay's on the hunt for BB Creams!

My hunt for BB Cream...

I have been having the WORST time trying to find something to cover my red cheeks and random blemishes on my face. I used to just use regular lotion (Philosophy's Hope in a Jar: which was AMAZING, by the way; we can add that to one of my many reviews). I have really dry skin on my cheeks and am oily on my chin and forehead.

I decided to pick up Rimmel's BB Cream in LIGHT: I have heard many good reviews about it and it retail for about $8. I've only tried it the past two days and it takes quite some time to dry. When I pulled my hoodie on about twenty minutes after applying it, a little bit (just a little!) rubbed off on the inside of my hoodie. Which I can deal with, no problem. It's been about 3 hours now and when I rub my face, the tiniest BB cream comes off on my fingertips but it doesn't affect the cream on my face. I learned that I have to rub it in better when I apply it. So, I say thumbs up.

I also picked up over my birthday weekend, Dr. Jart+ Black Label Detox BB Beauty Balm. Just the trial size in the generic color (there's only one). $18 for a trial tube and I have to say I'm not impressed. I can't rub it over my eyebrows, where some of my dry skin is also, because it cakes the BB cream in my brow hairs. It also shows the dry patches of my cheeks and rubs off a lot easier than the Rimmel or my Covergirl oh, and is more pigmented than the others. It's almost too orange for my skin but after I put bronzer and blush on, I make it work. I try SO hard to make it work. This one, I'm gonna have to say is a thumbs down and hopefully I can give it off to one of my friends that has less dry skin.

On a side note:

Bite's High Pigment Pencil in Pomegranate: I am IN LOVE with this product! It's so creamy and you can't even tell you have it on! I also don't ever, EVER, get it on my teeth (I ALWAYS do with red lipstick) and it was perfect for hours. After I bought it, after dinner, after celebrations for my birthday, it was on until I wiped it on. Now, it does transfer to utensils and glasses, which I don't mind but it's worth it! The pencil method is SO easy to apply too but I think that when I wear it down, it'll be flat and round, so I don't know what I'll do then. I don't care, I'll still use it!

Revlon's Lash Potion (Grow Luscious) in 001 Blackest Black is another awesome mascara that you can add to my good list. My right eye has lashes that are missing (it's weird) and this helps fill the gap. The brush is really bushy; I hate comblike brushes because they have WAY too much mascara on them!

Wet n' Wild's Megalast Salon Color in 214C I Red a Good Book: SUCH A GOOD COLOR. It's so beautiful. I think it might be my favorite red color. Retails for about $1.99. Add previously mentioned Seche Vite over the top and it's lasted me four days through work and typing and seeing my horse today. It's great.

If anyone reading this has ANY suggestions about BB creams, I'm open for just about anything! Carolyn will be sending me samples so as soon as I get those, I should have a review up afterwards!

Here's The Skinny

Hello Everyone,

Next week starts my "I will blog every day even if it kills me" week.  I plan to post everyday, and see how well that works for me.  I have new products to review, life to discuss, and some interesting things I think all girls (and guys) should know.

Now for my thoughts on:

Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs 2

If you want to see a funny movie not only made for children, I highly recommend this.  Now, I'm always filled with childlike wonder at any animated movie, and this was no exception.  I loved how adorable the whole thing was, and how darn cute that little strawberry is.  It shows how one person, with the right set of people surrounding them, can accomplish the impossible.  The message is great, the story line is easy to follow, and there are some really funny moments that make this great to see as a child, or an adult.  I wish I could write about specific parts of the movie but since it is such a new release I want to just leave you all with this:

If this doesn't make you want to see the movie... then I'm at a loss. SO GO SEE IT!
